HireBus FAQ

Answers about cost, setup, Iris phone interviews and the parts of hiring that stay with you.

Cost and plans

I only need one person. Is this for me?

Yes. Starter covers 1 active role at 1 location, with 25 scored candidates a month, for $297 a month. On monthly billing it adds a $500 onboarding fee and has a 3-month initial term, so it costs $797 to start and $1,391 for the first 3 months. Ad spend is separate. Compare the plans

What do I pay now, each month, and in advertising?

Now: on monthly billing, your first month plus a $500 onboarding fee, so $797 for Starter. Each month: $297 for Starter, $597 for Growth or $997 for Max. Annual billing is 10 months of the monthly price, billed once a year, with onboarding included. Advertising: a budget you approve, paid to the ad platforms and separate from your plan. See plan limits and terms

What if I run out of scored-candidate credits?

Add a credit pack: 25 for $100, 60 for $200, 185 for $500 or 500 for $1,000. That works out to $4.00 down to $2.00 per scored candidate. You approve the price before a pack is added. Ask your account team about automatic purchase settings and spending caps. See credit packs

What happens once I fill the role or stop hiring for the season?

Tell your account team whether to pause recruiting or keep building your bench for the next opening. That choice changes your ads, Iris interviews and cost. Monthly plans have a 3-month initial term. Ask about billing, remaining credits and candidate access before you change or cancel your plan.

Does a plan guarantee a hire?

No. A plan covers a set number of scored candidates each month, and the hire is yours to make. If your quote includes an activation offer, its terms are in the quote.

How HireBus and Iris work

Is Iris the same thing as HireBus?

No. HireBus is the company and the hiring platform. Iris is the AI recruiter inside it. She writes your job ads, messages every applicant and interviews them by phone. The HireBus team handles setup and runs your campaign, and you make the hire.

Do you find candidates, interview them, or hire for me?

HireBus posts your ad and runs the campaign to bring in applicants. Iris messages every applicant within seconds, keeps following up and interviews them by phone. You read their answers, hold your own interview and make the hire. See how the platform works

Does a HireBus recruiter personally review every candidate?

No. Iris handles the follow-up and the phone interviews, and your account team helps with setup and the campaign. Your team reviews candidates and decides who to interview. If you want managed recruiting on top of that, ask about it separately.

How do I know whether a candidate fits the role?

Iris prioritizes who you should talk to first, using the RightSeat score for behavior, experience and skills. Read what each person said in the Iris interview, then use your own interview to check licenses, references and practical skills.

How are interviews scheduled?

You pick who to meet, and the interview goes on your calendar. During setup, you and the team decide how invitations go out and which calendar gets the bookings.

Can I see what an Iris phone interview is like?

Yes. Listen to a real Iris phone interview and read the transcript, then see the candidate summary you get after one. Hear an Iris phone interview · See a candidate summary

Can I use HireBus for sales and office staff?

Yes. Besides technicians and field crews, you can hire sales reps, dispatchers, customer service reps and office managers. Set the requirements and interview questions for the actual work.

How is HireBus different from a job board or a recruiting agency?

A job board puts your job in front of people, and your team still follows up and sets up the calls. A recruiting agency's scope and fees vary by agreement. With HireBus, Iris writes the ad and HireBus posts it and runs the campaign. Iris follows up with every applicant and interviews them by phone, and your team interviews and hires.

Who is behind HireBus?

Brandon Vaughn, who grew his father's window cleaning business past 70 employees, founded HireBus in 2021 with Rick Breden, PhD, an industrial and organizational psychologist. Read our story

Setup and getting started

What should I prepare for setup?

Bring the job duties, pay range, work locations, schedule, required experience and hiring timeline. Decide who approves ads and spending, who reviews candidates and who holds interviews. If you use job boards or other hiring tools, bring those details too.

How long does setup take, and when should I start?

It depends on how fast the role details, account access and ad approvals come together. For seasonal hiring, start early enough to interview before the busy season.

I already use Indeed or another hiring system. What changes?

HireBus adds what happens after someone applies. Iris messages every applicant within seconds, keeps following up and interviews them by phone. Before launch, you and the team agree on where applications arrive and how they reach HireBus.

What if I'm not getting good applicants?

HireBus tests and manages your ads, and your account team goes over the job details, pay, schedule and ad budget with you. The Iris interview answers show where applicants' expectations differ from the job.
