A route handoff is more than a list of stops. The new tech needs the customer history, the site instructions and a way to log each visit. Decide what they must already know and what your lead will teach them before they work alone.
What to ask pest control applicants
You and your HireBus team set these pest control questions during setup, and Iris asks them in each interview:
- License. Ask which license or certification they hold, who issued it and in which category.
- Service experience. Ask about residential routes, commercial sites, termite work or inspections, whichever your opening covers.
- The return visit. Ask what they told a customer who still had a problem after the service.
- Route planning and records. Ask how they managed stops, logged their work and reported a problem that needed a supervisor.
- Truck, pay and the busy months. Say who drives the truck, how pay works and which months are the busiest.
Pest control roles to hire for
- Route technician. Holds the license for the work, keeps clean service records and talks clearly with customers at the door.
- Termite / wood-destroying insect inspector. Inspection experience, documentation, and explaining findings to customers.
- CSR / scheduler. Books visits, keeps customer notes and passes a service concern to the right person.
- Sales / route builder. Follows up on leads, explains the service and its terms, and hands new accounts to the route team.
Questions pest control owners ask
Can Iris check an applicator license?
No. Iris asks for the license details in her interview. You check the license with the agency that issued it and make sure it covers the work you plan to assign.
What if the role includes driving?
Put the driving duties in the role. Iris asks about their driving experience, and you run the driving record check before you assign a vehicle.
Can we prepare for the busy season?
Yes. Count back from the date you need someone on a route, and leave time for training and the license check. With an active bench, Iris keeps interviewing new applicants before the season starts. It uses ad budget and scored-candidate credits.
