A gutter cleaning sales representative visits homes to quote cleanings, small repairs and guard installs, then closes the sale on the visit or by follow-up. They measure the runs, explain the options in plain terms, and pass clear job notes to operations so the crew arrives ready.

Most quotes are small and quick. A guard install or a repair on an older house brings rules and promises the rep has to get right before the homeowner signs.
Guard warranties get offered before the sale
When a rep sells a guard with a written warranty in the homeowner's kitchen or driveway, the FTC's warranty availability rule says the rep must tell the buyer, out loud and in any printed materials shown, that copies of the warranty are on hand to read during the visit. Building products bought to repair or improve a home count as consumer products under that law. Keep the maker's and the company's warranties in the rep's folder or tablet. Source: eCFR: 16 CFR 702.3, pre-sale availability of written warranty terms.
Painted trim on older homes
Gutters often hang on painted fascia. In most homes from before 1978, the EPA lead renovation rule covers paid work that disturbs painted surfaces. Exterior work that disturbs 20 square feet or less counts as minor repair, as long as it avoids the rule's banned practices and doesn't demolish painted areas. A bigger trim repair has to go to a firm certified by EPA or the state, so ask the home's age before quoting fascia work. Source: eCFR: 40 CFR 745.83, lead renovation definitions, including minor repair and maintenance.
Quote where each downspout empties
Gutters only help if the downspouts carry the water away. Note where each one lets out: onto a splash block, into an extension, across a walk where it can freeze, or into a pipe in the ground. Quote extensions where water lands against the foundation, and flag any buried pipe so operations can check it before a crew clears it.
Fix the gutter before you guard it
A guard on a sagging or leaking gutter hides the problem and brings the homeowner back angry. Before quoting guards, check the hangers, the seams, the slope toward each downspout and the fascia behind. Quote the repairs first, and say plainly which ones the guard depends on.
How much gutter cleaning sales representatives make
The closest BLS group for gutter cleaning sales representatives is sales representatives of services. Sales representatives of services who work for building and home services companies earned a median of $29.31 an hour ($60,970 a year) in May 2025, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. That’s below the $69,990 median for sales representatives of services in all industries. About 40,700 of the 1,256,010 sales representatives of services in that survey work for building services companies.
Reps here usually earn base pay and commission on closed jobs, plus a yearly bonus. Because the template's base trails the BLS median, commission carries much of what a rep takes home.

Your CRM and quoting app
How crew scheduling works, so promised dates hold
The kit is a tablet or phone running the quoting app and CRM, a measuring wheel or laser, binoculars for second-story runs, and sample guard sections. Aerial measurement images help size a roofline before the visit.
Two of the 6 questions we'd ask, and what a strong answer sounds like. Ask every candidate the same questions, and rate each answer on your own before you compare notes.
Situational · Quoting property managers
A property manager asks for one price to clean gutters on [12] buildings of different sizes. What do you do?
A strong answer: Visits or reviews each building, prices by feet, stories and access, notes any lift needs, and offers a clear schedule and plan price.
Behavioral · Selling plans
Tell me about a time you sold a cleaning plan, or another recurring service, to a customer who only wanted one visit. How did you explain the value?
A strong answer: Clear benefits tied to their trees and past overflow, honest terms including how to cancel, and no pressure.
The template's figures give you a place to begin. Reset them with your own close data after a full season, and track phone quotes and home visits apart.
Conversion Rate
Divide sold jobs by the leads assigned to the rep in the same period, using the lead dates in the CRM. Count only leads the rep was able to reach.
Sales Close Ratio
Of the estimates the rep delivered, count how many were signed. Track cleanings, repairs and guards apart, since each one closes at its own pace.
Follow-Up Completion
Check that every customer the rep sold got a call, text or email after the crew finished, logged in the CRM inside the window.
Customer Satisfaction Rating
Average the post-job ratings on the rep's own sales, and flag any review that says the job differed from the estimate.
What tasks are behind the sales rep template's walking, lifting and weather lines?
Walking around a house and yard to check every gutter run and downspout. Carrying sample guard sections and a measuring tool from the car. Working outdoors in rain, wind, heat or cold during those walks, with leaf piles, dust and a running gutter vacuum close by at times. List them in the job ad, which helps applicants picture a day of visits.
How much does a gutter cleaning sales representative make?
Sales representatives of services who work for building and home services companies earned a median of $29.31 an hour ($60,970 a year) in May 2025, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The middle half earned between $45,780 and $78,150 a year. Pay also depends on your local market, experience and overtime.
Does a gutter sales rep need to climb a ladder to quote?
Not usually. Most runs can be measured from the ground with a measuring wheel or aerial images, and binoculars show the condition of second-story gutters. If you want reps to climb for a closer look, say so in the ad and train them the same way you train crew members before their first climb.
Can a rep quote gutters when the homeowner isn't home?
Often, yes, since the work is all outside. Get the homeowner's OK to walk the property, and ask about gates, pets and sprinklers first. Take photos of all four sides and send the quote with them the same day, then call to go over it. Guard sales usually still need a conversation, so book a follow-up call or visit.
What should a gutter cleaning quote list?
The length of gutter, the number of downspouts and stories, and what the cleaning includes, such as bagging debris and flushing downspouts. List each repair on its own line with its price, name the guard and its warranty, and give the date the quote is good through. A clear quote cuts calls to the office and disputes after the job.
