A siding marketing manager keeps the reps' appointment book full of homeowners who want new vinyl or fiber cement siding, trim and soffit. They run the ads, mailers, home show booths and follow-up emails, and see which ones end in signed contracts.

Most marketing managers buy ads and count leads. At a siding company, state contractor rules, warranty wording and energy claims limit what an ad can say.
Rhode Island wants the number in the ad
Rhode Island requires registered contractors to show their registration number in a conspicuous way on all advertising, proposals, contracts and invoices. For a siding company working there, that covers the website footer, search and social ads, mailers and home show banners. Treat truck wraps and yard signs as advertising too, and keep one approved artwork file with the number already in place so an agency can't drop it. Source: Rhode Island General Laws § 5-65-22: Display of certificate of registration.
Say whose lifetime the warranty means
If your ads mention a lifetime warranty, check them against the FTC's guides on warranty advertising. They say an ad that uses "lifetime" should make clear whose life or what life it refers to, for example as long as the first buyer owns the home. An ad that mentions a warranty should also say buyers can see the full warranty before the sale. Read the maker's transfer terms before the copy runs. Source: eCFR: 16 CFR Part 239, Guides for the Advertising of Warranties and Guarantees.
Energy savings claims need backup and a set line
If an ad says insulation and siding together can cut fuel bills, the FTC's R-value Rule calls for a reasonable basis for the claim. The ad has to list the products in the combination, say how much of the savings came from each (or rank them), and carry the line "Savings vary. Find out why in the seller's fact sheet on R-values. Higher R-values mean greater insulating power." TV, radio and space-constrained ads can skip those lines, but still need the proof. Get the maker's test data first. Source: eCFR: 16 CFR 460.19, Savings claims (FTC R-value Rule).
Every finished house markets its street
New siding changes the whole face of a house, so neighbors notice the week the crew leaves. Plan a mailer or door hanger for the nearest houses when each job wraps up, naming the product and color, and track replies by street. After a season you'll know which neighborhoods and house styles answer, and where the next canvass or ad dollar should go.
How much siding marketing managers make
Marketing managers who work for foundation, structure, and building exterior contractors earned a median of $133,660 a year ($64.26 an hour) in May 2025, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. That’s below the $166,790 median for marketing managers in all industries. About 270 of the 395,240 marketing managers in that survey work for structure and exterior contractors.
Expect a salary and a bonus on lead counts and campaign return, as the template describes. Exterior contractors pay most of their marketing managers more than that salary range, per BLS, so check it against your market before you post.

Skills to hire for, and what you can teach
Hire for these
Runs paid search and social ads and follows the results through to signed contracts
Writes plain ad copy that the company's warranty and legal facts can back up
Sets up lead tracking in a CRM from first click or call to signed job
Keeps agencies, print shops and show vendors on budget and on time
Explains campaign results to the CEO in a few clear numbers
Teach these on the job
Siding products: vinyl grades, fiber cement, insulated siding, trim and soffit
Your makers' contractor programs, co-op rules and brand guides
Contractor advertising laws where you operate
How storm season and the slow months shape your lead flow
What happens at your reps' kitchen-table visits
Expect a home improvement CRM such as LeadPerfection, improveit 360 or MarketSharp, call tracking, and the Google and Meta ad managers. Name your CRM in the job ad, and say whether the manager will also run the siding makers' online color visualizers on your website.
Siding marketing manager interview questions
Two of the 6 questions we'd ask, and what a strong answer sounds like. Ask every candidate the same questions, and rate each answer on your own before you compare notes.
Situational · Keeping energy claims honest
The owner wants ads saying new siding 'cuts your energy bills in half.' What do you do?
A strong answer: Pushes back unless there's real proof, uses accurate language about insulated siding or house wrap based on the manufacturer's data and gets legal review.
Behavioral · Using project photos
Tell me about how you used before-and-after photos or neighborhood marketing to win more work.
A strong answer: Got permission, used real jobs, targeted nearby homes and measured results.
The goals in the template show one shop's numbers. Track a full selling season of your own leads and contracts, then set targets that fit your territory and product mix.
Leads Generated
Count leads that meet a written definition, such as a homeowner with a real siding project who agrees to an in-home visit. Pull them from the CRM by source each quarter.
Conversion Rate
Divide signed contracts by qualified leads for each campaign, dating each sale back to its lead. Report it by product line so sales and marketing can compare.
Brand Engagement
Compare likes, comments, shares and saves per post against last year's matching months, which keeps storm season and winter judged against themselves.
Marketing ROI
Take gross profit from jobs signed from marketing leads, subtract the spend on ads, agencies, shows and mailers, and divide by that spend. Use the bookkeeper's job profit figures, not contract prices.
Career path
Marketing coordinator at a window or roofing companyRuns home show schedules, ad proofs and the lead list for a nearby trade.
Marketing managerOwns the siding company's lead flow, budget and brand.
Director of marketing for several branchesSets one budget and brand across markets while local staff run each branch's ads.
General managerRuns sales and operations together, with marketing as one of several teams.
Other roles in a siding & exterior cladding business
What do the lifting and event lines in a siding marketing manager's template involve?
They describe tasks like loading sample boards, display panels and banners for a home show, setting up the booth, and standing or walking for short spells while talking with homeowners. Some days include carrying a sample case into a meeting with a builder or an association. Otherwise the job is computer and phone work. In the interview, ask whether they can do these tasks; a reasonable accommodation can count toward a yes.
How much does a siding marketing manager make?
Marketing managers who work for foundation, structure, and building exterior contractors earned a median of $133,660 a year ($64.26 an hour) in May 2025, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The middle half earned between $99,990 and $171,910 a year. Pay also depends on your local market, experience and bonus terms.
Can we use a siding maker's photos and product copy in our ads?
Often yes, if you belong to the maker's contractor program and follow its brand and image terms. Read those terms for how to show trademarks, which photos you may use, and whether co-op money needs approval first. Present maker photos as product photos, never as your own jobs, and replace them with your own finished houses as soon as you have them, since homeowners want to see local work.
Why do siding leads take months to sign, and what should marketing do about it?
A whole-house siding job is a big purchase with many choices: product, color, trim and often financing. Plenty of families wait on savings, a second opinion or the right season. Build a follow-up series of emails and mailers that speaks to those stalls, such as color guides, finished jobs in their area and what a typical install week looks like, and pass anyone who replies to sales the same day.
Who should answer online reviews at a siding company?
The marketing manager can watch the review sites and draft replies, but complaints about an install belong with the service or warranty team. Reply in public with a short note and a phone number, and leave out the customer's address and job details. Each month, send sales and operations the themes that keep showing up in reviews, so they can fix the cause.
