A floor coating marketing manager draws calls from homeowners who want a coated garage, basement or shop floor, and from business owners who need a tougher one. They pick the ads, videos and partners that fill the reps' estimate calendar, and make sure each ad's promise about cure time, wear or the warranty matches what the product and crews deliver.

Homeowners shop for a coated floor with their eyes: photos, videos, a store-bought kit and a neighbor's garage. Every ad also promises how soon the floor is ready and how long it lasts, and the crews and the warranty have to keep those promises.
Speed and strength claims need proof on file
FTC policy says an advertiser needs a reasonable basis for an objective claim before the ad runs, and an ad that says "tests prove" needs at least the testing it claims. Coating ads are full of objective claims: done in a day, park tomorrow, won't yellow. Makers' numbers differ. APF lists vehicle traffic on its polyaspartic at about 24 hours, while Ameripolish says 24 to 48 hours for its topcoat. File the data sheet for the product your crews use behind each claim. Warranty ads point to the written terms
Long floor warranties sell garages, and the CEO decides what they cover. If your written warranty covers the coating and not only the labor, FTC guides say an ad that mentions it should tell buyers, clearly enough to be noticed, that they can see the written warranty before they buy. The guide's own examples do it in one short line. Post the full warranty, exclusions included, on your website, point to it from every warranty ad, and give the reps the same version. Peeled kit floors bring ready buyers
Many callers already tried a store-bought kit. Rust-Oleum's EpoxyShield kit, for example, comes with a citric acid etch, goes on in one coat, and its sheet says to wait three days before driving on it. Ameripolish advises diamond tools to prepare the slab. A page written for homeowners whose kit floor is peeling reaches people who already want the result. Explain grinding and coats in the makers' own words, and don't run down any brand. Source: Rust-Oleum: EpoxyShield Garage Floor Universal Tint Base technical data sheet (ESH-48).
Coat the floor before the cabinets go in
Garage cabinets, wall storage and overhead racks are often bought the same year as a new floor. The floor should go down first, or floor-standing cabinets and shelving have to come out for the crew. Partner with garage storage companies that don't coat floors: shared mailers to their past buyers, a page that shows the order of work, and a tracked number or code for each partner's leads.
How much floor coating marketing managers make
Marketing managers who work for building finishing contractors earned a median of $106,040 a year ($50.98 an hour) in May 2025, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. That’s below the $166,790 median for marketing managers in all industries. About 240 of the 395,240 marketing managers in that survey work for building finishing contractors.
The template pays a salary and a results bonus. By this page's BLS figures, most people in this job at building finishing contractors earn more than its top salary, though the BLS sample here is small. Someone coming from a large remodeler or window company will likely want a higher figure. Base the bonus on coated floors traced to marketing's sources.

Skills to hire for, and what you can teach
Hire for these
Has run lead generation for a remodeling, window or similar company whose reps sell at the kitchen table
Checks each ad claim against the data sheet for the product crews install
Shoots and edits short videos of the grind, the flake broadcast and the finished floor
Sets up partner campaigns with tracked numbers or codes for each partner
Reads CRM reports from first call to installed floor
Teach these on the job
Epoxy, polyaspartic, flake, metallic and quartz systems
Your floor warranty's terms and exclusions
When you may show a coating maker's brand and photos
The months each market books fastest, and why
Which flake blends and colors sell best where you work
The work runs on Google and Meta ad accounts, a Google Business Profile at every staffed location, call tracking, and the CRM that marks each lead from first call to installed floor. Keep a library of install videos and photos by system and flake blend, plus a folder with the current data sheet and warranty text behind every claim.
Two of the 6 questions we'd ask, and what a strong answer sounds like. Ask every candidate the same questions, and rate each answer on your own before you compare notes.
Situational · Warranty claims in ads
Competitors advertise lifetime warranties, and yours is shorter. What do you do?
A strong answer: Explains honestly what your warranty covers, leads with prep and product quality, and avoids promises the company won't keep.
Behavioral · Lead quality
Tell me about a promotion that brought in lots of leads but few profitable jobs. What did you change?
A strong answer: Spotted it in close rates and margin, changed the offer or targeting, and shows the result.
Report garage, basement and commercial leads apart, because they come from different places and close at different rates. Let twelve months of your CRM records set the targets.
Leads Generated
Estimate requests from owners in your service area with a floor you coat, counted by source each month. Drop duplicates, wrong numbers and shoppers who only wanted to buy product.
Brand Awareness
Engagement per post, from each platform's own numbers, so a month with more posts doesn't look better than it was. Note which install videos, flake reveals or before-and-after shots drew saves, shares and comments.
Conversion Rate
Installed floors divided by marketing's leads, read by source. When a source falls short, check whether its leads never booked an estimate or booked one and didn't buy.
Customer Satisfaction
Reviews and surveys from customers who first found you through an ad, a partner or a home show. A complaint about parking too soon, or a color that looked different on screen, points to an ad or photo to fix.
Career path
Marketing coordinatorFilms installs, posts the week's floors and logs home show leads in the CRM.
Marketing managerOwns lead sources, product claims and partner campaigns.
Director of marketingAdds commercial floor campaigns, builder programs and new markets to the plan.
Coating maker or distributor marketingBuilds dealer programs, sample kits and shared ads for contractors.
What does the marketing template's 15-pound line cover?
Event and sample work. The marketing manager carries flake chip boards, sample panels, banners and boxes of brochures to home shows and trade events, sets up the booth, and visits finished jobs to film them. Put the booth and filming work in the posting next to the template's lifting line, and say that you will discuss accommodations.
How much does a floor coating marketing manager make?
Marketing managers who work for building finishing contractors earned a median of $106,040 a year ($50.98 an hour) in May 2025, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The middle half earned between $78,220 and $134,600 a year. Pay also depends on your local market, experience and bonus terms.
Do yard signs and door hangers work on garage floor jobs?
They can. The garage door is often open for a day or two while the crew works, and neighbors stop to look. Ask the homeowner before a sign goes in the yard, and check HOA and town sign rules. Give the crew door hangers with photos of that floor's system and a tracked number, and code those leads to the street.
Should basements and shops be marketed apart from garages?
Yes, once you have the photos and trained crews for them. Basement buyers are often finishing the space and ask about damp and odor. Shop and commercial owners ask about chemicals, slip resistance and how long the space must close. Give each its own page, photos and tracked number, and send commercial calls to whoever prices those floors.
When should a floor coating company ask for a review?
After the customer has used the floor, not on install day. On that day the garage is still closed and the car is in the driveway. Time the request for when the cure time on the lead's sheet has passed and the car is back inside. A homeowner who has parked on the floor writes about the result, not the wait.
