A house cleaning marketing manager fills the schedule with homes that want cleaning every week or two, plus deep cleans and move-outs. They run search ads, reviews, referral offers and neighborhood mailers, and they judge each channel by how many first cleans become recurring customers.

Plumbing and HVAC marketing chases urgent calls. House cleaning is a habit people choose, and a customer's first clean is a tryout. The marketing job is to win that tryout, keep the customer, and find enough housekeepers to clean the homes you win.
The first clean is a tryout
A new customer often books one deep clean to test you. The real prize is what comes next: a standing visit every week, every two weeks or every month. The manager tracks how many first cleans turn into recurring service, by ad source and by offer. A big first-clean discount that draws bargain hunters who never rebook can cost more than it brings in.
You market the jobs too
You can only sell the cleans you can staff. Expect the marketing manager to help write and place housekeeper job ads, keep the careers page fresh, and post team photos and stories that show what working there is like. When a branch is short on housekeepers, the manager pulls back customer ads in that area and pushes job ads instead.
Green and non-toxic claims need proof
Customers with kids and pets ask for safer products, and eco-friendly sells. The FTC's Green Guides say broad claims like green or eco-friendly are hard to back up, so tie them to a specific benefit. A non-toxic claim suggests no harm to people or the environment, so you need sound scientific evidence for both or a clear limit on the claim. Check each product's label and safety data sheet before an ad makes a claim. Source: 16 CFR 260.10: Non-toxic claims, FTC Green Guides (Cornell LII).
Trust claims must hold for every visit
Cleaning ads often promise background-checked, insured or bonded staff, because the customer is handing a house key to people they've never met. The FTC says you need proof for an ad claim before the ad runs. If the ad says every housekeeper is checked, one new hire who skipped the check makes it false. Keep the policy papers and check records that each claim relies on. Source: FTC: Advertising FAQs, a guide for small business.
Reviews sell the team, not just the company
A review that names the housekeepers tells the next customer who might be walking into their home. Send a review link to every customer after every clean, so the mix stays honest. Never offer a discount or credit for a review. Google bans review incentives outright, and the FTC's review rule forbids rewarding a review for being positive. How much house cleaning marketing managers make
Marketing managers who work for administrative and support services businesses earned a median of $149,990 a year ($72.11 an hour) in May 2025, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. That’s below the $166,790 median for marketing managers in all industries. About 17,840 of the 395,240 marketing managers in that survey work for administrative and support services businesses.
The template pays a salary and offers a performance bonus. Tie the bonus to first cleans that turn into recurring service, not raw lead counts, so it follows customers who keep booking.

BLS doesn’t publish pay for marketing managers at building services companies on their own, so these figures cover administrative and support services businesses. Post a real range for your market in the ad.

Skills to hire for, and what you can teach
Hire for these
Hands-on paid search and social ads for a local service business
Reading booking data: first cleans, rebooks and cancellations by source
Plain copy that makes a stranger comfortable letting you into their home
Recruiting marketing: job ads and a careers page that bring in applicants
Careful, provable claims about products, insurance and staff checks
Teach these on the job
Your service menu, add-ons and pricing rules
Which neighborhoods each branch can reach without long drives
Your booking system's reports and source tracking
Your referral program rules
The products your teams use and what their labels support
Expect Google Ads, a Google Business Profile for each branch, Meta and Nextdoor ads, email and text messaging software, and the reports in your booking system, such as MaidCentral, ZenMaid or Launch27. Two things change this job the most, so put both in the posting: whether an agency already runs the ads, and whether housekeeper recruiting ads come with the role.
House cleaning marketing manager interview questions
They have their own page: 6 questions that test this job, what strong and weak answers sound like, and a work exercise to run with your finalists.
Start with the template's goals, then rebuild them for each branch from your own history. Add one number the template leaves out: how many first cleans became recurring customers.
New leads generated per month
New booking requests, calls and quote forms each month from your booking system and call tracking, by source and branch. Leave out repeat customers and homes outside your service area.
Customer Satisfaction Rating
Each month, record the Google and Yelp star averages next to your own post-clean survey score. Sort low scores by branch and team and pass them to the general manager.
Social media engagement rate
Divide likes, comments, shares and saves by the number of people who saw your posts, using each platform's monthly insights. Note which posts led to a booking request or a job application.
Brand awareness improvement
Once or twice a year, survey people in your service area and ask which cleaning companies they can name without a prompt. Also ask every new customer how they first heard of you.
Career path
Marketing coordinator or social media specialistSchedules posts, builds email sends and pulls the weekly ad reports.
Marketing managerSets the budget and decides which channels each branch gets.
Director of marketing or growthPlans the launch of new branches or new cities, sometimes for a franchise brand.
They bring in new homes and keep current ones booked. That means running search and social ads, keeping each branch's Google profile and reviews current, sending emails and texts to past customers, and running the referral program. They also help fill housekeeper openings with job ads, and they report which channels produce customers who stay.
How much does a house cleaning marketing manager make?
Marketing managers who work for administrative and support services businesses earned a median of $149,990 a year ($72.11 an hour) in May 2025, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The middle half earned between $110,340 and $194,620 a year. Pay also depends on your local market, experience and bonus terms.
Where should a cleaning company advertise first?
Start close to the homes you already clean. A new customer on a street your teams visit costs less drive time than one across town. Google search and your Business Profile catch people looking now. Google also runs Local Services Ads for house cleaning. Its screening there is lighter than for urgent trades like plumbing, and Google asks only some cleaning advertisers for owner, business and insurance checks.
Should a cleaning company offer a first-clean discount?
Test it before you lean on it. A deep first-clean discount brings bookings, but some of those customers never come back. Try spreading the savings over the first few recurring visits instead, so the deal rewards people who sign up for regular service. Compare the rebooking rate for each offer before you pick one.
Can a cleaning company post photos from inside customers' homes?
Only with the customer's written OK. Before posting, crop out house numbers, street views, mail, family photos, valuables and anything that shows the alarm panel or where a key is kept. Ask the housekeepers in the shot too. A before-and-after of a kitchen counter sells the work without showing whose home it is.
What should a house cleaning marketing manager job ad include?
Start with scope: how many branches and cities, and whether hiring ads are part of the work. Give the ad budget the manager will control, even as a range, and say whether an agency runs any channels today. Note any weekend events and the leader the manager answers to.
